The third week in July has arrived again, so it's time for Joust Week at Arundel Castle. Every year re-enactors arrive from abroad and other parts of England to stage a week of jousting and demonstrations of hand to hand combat in the grounds of the Castle. There are also re-enactors who demonstrate medieval techniques for pewter work, wood working, making armour, calligraphy etc.
As I normally work as a guide inside the Castle, I unfortunately miss watching the action, so I went there yesterday on my day off. The jousting seemed to be evenly matched, so we will have to wait until Sunday for the final score.
I feel I ought to start writing a novel with a medieval theme or alternatively some kind of mystery involving re-enactors.
In the meantime, here are some of the photos I took.
